5 Ways To Beat Anxiety

Think anxiety can’t be cured?  Think again.  There are specific ways to deal with the ugly monster.


Resolve trauma

Underlying trauma can create anxiety that comes out of nowhere for seemingly no reason.  Logically, you know you are safe, but something triggers you and you go into a panic attack.  Until you have effectively dealt with the past, it will continue to come back and haunt you.  How would it feel to finally let it go


Assess neurotransmitters

We are beginning to understand more and more about how neurotransmitters and other things that are going on inside our bodies actually trigger anxiety.  Addiction can be a big clue to an underlying physical issue.  Serotonin and GABA are two huge players when it comes to anxiety driven addiction.  Assessing and correcting these imbalances can kick anxiety to the curb.  Wouldn’t it be nice if you didn’t NEED that beer after work?


Learn to calm down

Relaxation techniques can be very handy when you are in the middle of a store and feel like your about to lose your mind.  Breathing, meditation, and music are all effective ways of creating a calm in the middle of the storm.  Becoming an expert at calming yourself in high stress situations can create a healthy, peaceful outlook.  Could you be the one who looks like you don’t have a care in the world?


Get comfortable with the unknown

Fear is based on the unknown.  How will this play out?  What’s going to happen if I do this?  Say that?  Feel this way?  Think of a rollercoaster.  Up and down, around and around.  In the end, you know two things – 1, you will have fun. 2, chances are, you will survive.  Getting comfortable with all of the twists and turns of life can happen.  Enjoy the ride.


Desensitize

When you first started riding a bike, you were scared of falling.  After a few falls, it didn’t seem so scary anymore.  Truth is, each fall was different, but somehow, your brain decided that the reward of riding the bike had worth and the fear of falling didn’t matter.  If something seems to overwhelming, take it bit by bit.  Confront the fear.
