I'm Laveta Shelton, a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), with over 30 years experience. I am also a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist (CART).  I provide counseling to help people find solutions in dealing with addiction, anger, and other related issues. I have worked with both adult and adolescent clients providing counseling services in residential care, as well as, outpatient facilities.

I have an Associates degree in Human Services from Odessa college, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from the University of Texas Permian Basin.  In addition to my educational degrees, I’m over 50 years into a degree in life, that has come with lots of ups and downs, helping me to develop a lot of life knowledge. Over the years, I have learned to listen, care and help where I can. I have a non-judgmental attitude that allows me to work well with people from many lifestyles and walks of life.  

If you are struggling with life, I have a desire to provide you with skills that will help. 
I spend a lot of time reading and investigating new ways to do so. Through the years, I have learned and developed various solution-based therapies and techniques. I have learned first hand which tools work and which ones do not. We will work together to develop a plan that will work for you.

In addition, I am a Certified Life Coach, which fits nicely, since life coaching is a solutions based field. I am also, experienced as a Christian counselor if you are seeking a faith-based approach to counseling.

Welcome to The Alpha Center 😊

I’ve been in the bookkeeping and office management business for over 20 years and I love interacting with clients.  I have a heart for anything dealing with numbers.  One of my biggest accomplishments in life was raising my 3 children (we made it through the teenage years).  I was raised to have a strong work ethic and to give my all in every task that comes my way.  Sometimes bad things happen, but I believe that things happen as they are supposed to and there’s always a blessing to be found.  If you are having a hard time believing in the good, I will be your optimism!

Graduated in TSTC 2012 On Deans list. Currently enrolled in Purdue Global University on Chancellors list, to become an LPC. 

I am in recovery from addiction since May 10, 2010, and helping others to find their way out of the darkness of hopelessness and despair. I am result driven fueled by my passion to help others.
