Depression and anxiety are usually linked together, but they are far from the same thing. Depression is more of a feeling of hopelessness. Symptoms can include a lack of motivation, overly tired, and trouble concentrating.
Anxiety is usually a feeling of fear and is often characterized by restlessness, insomnia, and racing thoughts.
There are many symptoms and there are different types of both, depression and anxiety. Many times, people do not realize they are experiencing depression or anxiety; they just realize that they don't feel "right" or they feel "crazy."
People with depression and anxiety will often abuse substances and believe that the root cause of their problem is addiction, when in fact, it is actually a mood disorder.
