What Am I? Who Am I?

A value system can help us create the life that we want. Without values we may misunderstand what is happening in certain situations. Causing us to feel helpless and not in control.

With a value system in place we have an idea of where we want to end up in life. Or at least who we want to end up like. An unclear value system can affect the goals we have. We may have a destination we want to reach and if we are unclear of the costs we may become distracted. Lose ambition. Or give up entirely. Distraction being the biggest cost. So, how do we minimize distractions?

One way is setting boundaries around our value system. Protecting the path we have chosen. A boundary can be a default program that says if this happens then this will happen. Like an algorithm. Almost a definite approach to reaching your destination. If you knew you could not fail, what would you do?

Now that we have set some values. Lets move on what to do next.

Values are created through what we are. And what are we? Humans. We have a physical side, an intellectual component, our emotions, a social aspect, a spirit that acts as a guide (gut instinct), and we are sexual in nature. All this at play helping us create our values.

To me, to be a healthy human being I must understand what is really happening. I must understand what I am. Before deciding who I am. What I call mindfulness.

Intellect gives me the power to choose. And I want to emphasize the word power. When I hear power I imagine a super hero with super human strength. Having the ability to choose is definitely a super power.

Emotional stability requires awareness about reality in the moment. And reality as a whole. Executing my power to choose my state of mind.

Socially, I have many opportunities to connect with others. In person or online. Finding my tribe. Staying in community. Or not.

Spiritually, I have something guiding me. With a predetermined operating system that can read my environment beyond face value. A gut instinct supporting my survival.

And lastly, we have the ability to reproduce. Sexually, humans choose their partners based on many factors.

So, thinking back to the past year, what part of you needs reevaluating? Looking forward to 2019, what aspect of your humanity needs to evolve? Physically, are you where you hope to be? Intellectually, are you exercising your power to choose? Emotionally, are you in control? Socially, are you connecting with others in integrity? What about spiritually? Do you trust that gut instinct? Is your voice louder than others? And lastly, what is happening sexually for you? Are you aware of your value?

Focus this week on discovering what you are. Next week we will discuss what influences to become who we are.
