Balance

Rebirth. How many people actually think about the process of transformation? Let alone teens. So much noise around us that intentionally approaching life can be an after thought. Like way after.
Do I give up things? Do I hold on to him/her? Where do I need to be more aware? I mean what questions do you ask? Who do you invite in?
I've always been interested in the impact the 4 seasons have on our lives. Yet I rarely ever hear conversation around the principle embedded in these 4 seasons.
We live in America. West Texas at that. Where it is a constant go mentality. It is so busy here that we may not fully experience the impact of seasons. We are always on. Never really a shut off. Go to school. Study. Graduate. Go to college or get a career. Become an official adult. Purchase a home. Go on vacations. Have children. Find a community. Give back. Continue to educate. One season always on.
When do we transition? Where is the transition? If I am not careful I can overlook times of planting new intentions, dreams or goals for times of harvesting. Frustrated with the results. We cannot eat the fruit the day we plant the seed. Many not understanding the concept of time: our 4 seasons.
Knowing when to plant and water our lives is crucial to the life we desire. Understanding that the harvest, what the field produces, is almost entirely out of our control. What we do control is planting and watering.
What seeds are you planting right now in your field of life? Seeds of values, boundaries, and goals? How will you water those new seeds? Can you see your life 5 and 10 years from now? Are you planting seeds of relationships, higher education, or a career? What about seeds of destruction? The lives we live are the fruit of the seeds we plant and water. What will you do in your field of life?
Take time this week and look at your gigantic field of life. Are there many seeds that need planting? Where are you watering now? Are you watering unhealthy relationships? Is that the harvest (life) you want? Our lives will go in the direction of our strongest thoughts. Where are your thoughts taking you? What thoughts and beliefs are you planting?
After shedding the old and being reborn with new resolutions there is a time of balance. Where all seems calm. This stillness before the next season. Take this week to reflect on what have you shed and what you are looking forward to. Sit in that. Let it sink in. Are you happy with it?
