Tommy Pool, LPC, LCDC, SAP
Persons likely to see positive outcomes from my therapeutic interventions are couples and individuals in need of relief from relationship stress brought about by infidelity, including pornography addiction, drugs/alcohol, verbal abuse or an overly demanding work schedule. Often these "adult" issues become problematic in households where children are involved. Poor grades and oppositional/defiant behaviors may simply reflect differing parenting styles, or they could be the results of conflict between adults in the home. I understand the difficulty of seeking help in situations where embarrassment, guilt, and shame are involved and am adept in assisting my clients in resolving them.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor with over 20 years of experience, I have extensive knowledge in treating compulsive disorders such as alcohol or other drug abuse, sex/pornography addiction, verbal abuse and violence. I specialize in effectively addressing "sensitive" issues with an objective, encouraging attitude while helping clients overcome them.
Misty Locknane, BS, LCDC, CCS, CART
I believe in a well-rounded approach to therapy including emotional, mental, physical and spiritual. Together, we can take the steps towards those goals that seem so risky. It has always been my passion to help others and I believe that my purpose in life is to help you find yours. I intend to do this through helping you to change your present beliefs and problem-solving skills that aren't working for you anymore. I will also get a history of your physical health and begin to help you address any issues that may be creating emotional or mental issues such as neurotransmitter imbalances that may be creating anxiety or depression. I also believe that it is very important for each of us to have a sense of purpose in life and if you haven't found yours, we will work toward that as well.
At the present time, I am credentialed for substance abuse/addiction counseling and all of the issues that come with it. I am a certified clinical supervisor through TCBAP and the state of Texas. I am certified as a practitioner in neuro-endocrine rebalancing and I am also a certified anger resolution therapist. I have eight years experience in the field as well as a lifetime of experience in the "real world." My future career goals include furthering my education in either neuropsychology or addictions, depending on the programs. I intend to have a complete wellness center and have recently moved to our new location, in which we have a hypnotist and a massage therapist. We will be adding meditation and yoga soon!
Are issues of morality and character at the bottom of your relationship conflicts?
As a fully licensed professional and a firm believer in Christ, I am committed to being a resource for those who strive (and at times--struggle) to incorporate biblical values and principles into their lives.
Whether you struggle with sin and forgiveness in your own life or find yourself "unequally yoked" and feeling trapped in a relationship with no way out--I would welcome the opportunity to assist you in developing and implementing a plan for growth and stability. It is my focus to help you: 1) re-evaluate, 2) establish positive, productive relationships, and 3) maintain those connections by helping you look at your distractions as well as your perceptions.
I have a little over 6 years experience with direct counseling services in a clinical and educational setting. In addition, I am also a certified Texas Educator (6-12 teacher, lifetime; Principal – expires in 6/30/2019) and has been in the Texas public school systems, a Texas charter school system, and a Texas Community College for a total of over 22 years. Combined with other varied life experiences, I am more than ready to help you tackle some tough issues and situations.
Giving people truth about their lives in order for them to see renewed hope for a better life is my main focus. Using my humor and no-nonsense approach-- I am at your service and ready to partner with you to re-establish a desired routine, maintain that routine, and make the needed improvements along the way..
Hailey Selby, BS, CI, Office Manager
My name is Hailey and I moved back to Texas about two years ago to further my career. Since being here I have graduated from the University of Phoenix with my Bachelors of Science in Psychology degree. I also have my LCDC internship. I choose to go to school for Psychology because I have always wanted to help others. I have been with the love of my life for 9 years and we have been married for 3. We currently do not have any children, but hopefully that will change in the future. In the time that I have worked here, my knowledge has greatly expanded and I know now that I have choose the right career path! Eventually I would like to get my Master’s degree, but for now I am going to focus on my internship. I find that if I can make one client's day just a little brighter, I have such a sense of accomplishment! This is not just a job to me, this is my purpose in life and I would not have it any other way!
Derek Skapars, BA, CI
I am a graduate of Arizona State University -2005-. I am also an LCDC-I and have come to The Alpha Center with 3 years experience working in the substance abuse field. I attended and completed the training program at The Institute of Chemical Dependency Studies in Houston, Texas; I have recently become a certified DWI educator and administrator as well. When not helping people recover from addiction, I can be found in my Woodworking Shop where I make tables and chairs. I am often found at the golf course as well. In 2008 I created what is now called, "Woodworking Therapy" where I help clients recover from addiction through woodworking.
